Call for Direct Flights Between Moscow and Bali

TEMPO.CO reports that the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, is lobbying for direct air connections between Moscow and Bali to build business ties between Indonesia and Russia.

Speaking on Monday, 14 April 2025, while attending a Russian-Indonesian business forum, Airlangga said, “We encourage people-to-people collaboration, including direct flights from Moscow to Bali.”

Airlangga emphasized that there is also the possibility of Russian flights to five other Indonesian destinations, saying, “We have five other tourist destinations that can also be improved through air travel.”

Airlangga also sees direct flights between Jakarta and Moscow as important to support business development between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and its partners.

Airlangga reports that he has initiated a dialogue on Russian flights to Indonesia with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Valentinovich Manturov.

While Airlangga did not specify a start date for the proposed flights, he is confident that the plan for the Russian-Indonesian flight connections could be implemented on short notice.
