Canberra to Bali 3X a Week

Virgin Australia will soon connect Australia’s Capital Territory of Canberra with Denpasar, Bali, with a thrice-weekly direct service starting 22 June 2026.

Virgin will become the only Australia-based airline operating international flights out of Canberra and the only airline connecting Denpasar to Canberra.

Operating with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, Virgin Australia offers three seating classes: Business, Economy, and Economy X. Economy X seats offer extra legroom and pre-boarding perks.

The new flight service will add more than 40,000 seats flying between ACT and Bali. Plans are for a seasonal operation from April through to January, with the possibility of extra flights during peak travel periods.

Virgin Australia CEO Dave Emerson said the route represents a significant step in the airline’s broader network expansion.

“This is the first time in the history of the company that we will operate internationally from the Capital, marking an important milestone in our broader network expansion story,” he said.

Plans are for the new flights to offer afternoon departures from Canberra, becoming overnight return flights from Bali, landing in Canberra in the early morning.

“Indonesia has now overtaken New Zealand as one of Australia’s most popular international travel destinations. Last year, we carried more than half a million guests between Australia and Bali, and it’s great to see demand for the destination continue to grow,” said Emerson.

Virgin Australia is also bolstering its domestic capacity into Canberra by upsizing its Brisbane-Canberra flight from F100 Aircraft to Boeing 737s.

Virgin Australia currently operates direct flights to Bali from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast, with the new Canberra services offering same-day domestic connections to those cities as well.
