COVID Test Costs Lowered at Bali Airport

Following the recent reduction in the cost of RT-PCR Swab tests at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport to Rp. 495,000, the price of a Rapid Test Antigen (RDT-Ag) available at the Island’s sole air gateway has also been reduced to only Rp. 99,000.

The new reduced cost of a Rapid Antigen Test takes effect from 01 September 2021 and is in accordance with Circular Memorandum HK 02.02/i/3065/2021 issued by the Indonesian Minister of Health.

As reported by NusaBali, Taufan Yudhistira, stakeholder relation manager for PT Angkasa Pura I – the State-owned company that manages Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, said the adjustment of the cost of the Rapid Antigen Test (RDT) is being reviewed to comply with the Minister’s instructions to reduce the cost of this test to Rp. 99,000 for the islands of Java and Bali, and Rp. 109,000 for the remaining areas of Indonesia.

Signaling that the price of the RDT Test would soon be lowered, Yudhistira said on Thursday, 02 September 2021: “The cost of the rapid antigen test is being discussed, while the PCR test has already been adjusted and lowered. When this (lowering of the RDT price) will happen has yet to be confirmed. When this is decided, we will inform.”

Records maintained by the Bali Airport Authority reveal an average daily demand for Rapid Antigen Tests of 50-60 passengers, while an average of 49 passengers requests the PCR test procedure.

Passenger totals passing through Bali’s airport are on the increase. On Wednesday, 01 September 2021, 5,415 passengers arrived or departed from Bali, comprised entirely of 2,827 departing domestic passengers and 2,588 departing travelers. This number represents the highest number of passenger movements than any single day the preceding month of August.

Angkasa Pura I reports that passenger totals have increased steadily since the government relaxed documentation requirements starting from 13 August 2021. The relaxation of allowing passengers to fly with the lower-priced Rapid Antigen Test and the reduction in testing costs are expected to help foster further growth in tourist movement through the airport.
