The Chief of Provincial Police for Bali, Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya, is quoted by Beritabali.com as confirming that during the entire year of 2025, Bali experienced a sharp increase in criminal cases compared to 2024. In 2025, Bali police handled 5,721 criminal cases, an increase of 4.7% over 2024, when 5,466 cases were handled.
Of the 5,721 criminal cases handled by the Bali Police, 60% (3,427) were closed or resolved, indicating an overall improvement over the previous year. The most common type of criminal case in 2025 was theft, accounting for 921 cases, of which only 5.48% were solved. Meanwhile, motorcycle thefts in Bali totaled 627 in 2025, of which 68% were solved. Armed or aggressive theft of motorcycles totaled 627 in 2025, with 68% solved; aggressive robbery totaled 473 cases, of which 64% weresolved by police.

The breakdown in crimes committed by foreign nationals sees 107 cases involving narcotics, 42 cases of physical assault, 18 cases of fraud, 8 cases of domestic household abuse, and 5 simple theft cases.

The number of foreigners victimized by crime increased significantly in 2025. Overall, there was a 47% increase from 230 in 2024 to 339 in 2025. 104 foreign nationals were victims of simple larceny. 49 foreigners were victims of aggravated robbery, 38 foreigners were assaulted, 36 foreigners were victims of armed robbery, and 28 foreigners became victims of fraud.

Chief Adityajaya said one of the highest-profile criminal cases in 2025 was the assassination of Australian Zivan Radmanovic and the wounding of Sanar Ghanim at Villa Casa Santisya in Mengwi on Saturday, 14 June 2025. The case resulted in the arrest and the currently ongoing trial of three Australian men: Mevlut Coskun (22), Paea-I-Midelmore Tupou (26), and Darcy Francesco Jenson (27)
Narcotic Cases
In 2025, Bali police handled 958 narcotics cases involving 1,222 suspects, comprised of 1,126 men and 96 women. Police confiscated 23,83 kilograms of marijuana, 23.724 kilograms of methamphetamines, 4.308 kilograms of cocaine, and 11,155 ecstasy pills.
Traffic Accidents
In 2025, Bali police handled 8,329 road accidents resulting in 531 fatalities, 85 serious injuries, and 10,722 minor injuries.
“The highest number of traffic accidents occurred within the jurisdiction of the Denpasar Police at 2,056 incidents, followed by the Buleleng Police with 1,291 incidents, and the Gianyar Police with 1,122 incidents,” said Police Inspector-General Daniel Adityajaya.
The Bali Police Chief reiterated the Bali Police’s commitment to maintaining public order and a positive security situation through preemptive action, preventive policing, and repressive measures when necessary. “We urge those celebrating New Year’s Eve to refrain from consuming alcohol and setting off fireworks or firecrackers,” he concluded.
