The low-cost air carrier Indonesia AirAsia will fly directly between Denpasar, Bali, and Adelaide, South Australia, commencing 25 June 2025. The Bali-Adelaide flight service will operate four times weekly using Airbus A320-200 aircraft configured to carry 180 passengers.
Introductory fares of only AUD 199 are being offered on the flights that will depart Adelaide every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and return from Denpasar every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
The flight time between the two cities is four hours and 50 minutes.
This is the first time Indonesia AirAsia has operated a service out of Adelaide. The flights to Bali will connect to popular destinations across the AirAsia Group network, which includes over 130 destinations in Asia and beyond.
The new AirAsia route will compete with Jetstar’s 11 flights weekly out of Adelaide.
The new route represents AirAsia’s fourth flight service connecting Bali and Australia brining to four the numbers of Australian destinations served: Adelaide, Darwin, Cairns, and Perth.
Veranita Yosephine Sinaga, CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, quoted by TEMPO.CO said: . “We are providing access for tourists from South Australia to connect with more than 130 destinations throughout Asia and its surroundings through the AirAsia Group network, with Bali as the main hub.”
Veranita cites Australia as one of the fastest-growing traffic sources for low-cost airlines, adding: “Bali is a favorite destination for tourists from South Australia, and we understand the high demand for affordable flights.”.
The National Statistics Agency (BPS) has published data for 2024 that ranks Australia as the second largest source of foreign visitors (1.6 million) following Malaysia (2.2 million).
In 2024, 1.5 million Australians visited Bali, an increase of 16.59% over 2023, when 1.3 million Australians traveled to Bali.
Adelaide is now connected to 14 international destinations, with a target of connecting to 39 international destinations by 2050.
