Irish Woman Sent to Bali’s Mental Asylum

Regional law enforcement officials (Satpol PP) in Gianyar Regency have taken into custody a 26-year-old Irishwoman from Longford, Ireland, Glodagh Gray (Clodagh Ni Cathairlriabhaigh), following complaints from residents and community watch members (Perbekel) regarding a female acting irrationally near a local market. Gray was apprehended in front of the Bedulu Market at Blahbatuh, Gianyar, on Saturday, 15 July 2023.

Detik.com reports that at the time of her arrest, Gray was not carrying identity documents. To prevent further disturbance and possible self-harm, Gray was brought by police to the Bangli Psychiatric Hospital (RSJ-Bangli), where police learned the woman had previously been treated both on a patient and outpatient basis.
