Lombok Room Shortage at Mandalika Circuit

The Indonesian government expects up to 65,000 spectators to attend several MotoGP Race Events at the Mandalika Race Circuit in Lombok.

Major race events are currently scheduled on:

As reported by Beritabali.com, only an estimated 16,000 starred hotel rooms are currently available in Lombok, resulting in a shortfall of rooms for these coming race events. Accordingly, plans and strategies are being implemented to accommodate spectators in hotels in nearby Bali. Most Lombok hotels report “fully booked” status over Mandalika Circuit race dates.

The commandant in charge of ensuring the inauguration of the Mandalika Race Circuit goes smoothly, retired-general Hadi Tjahjanto, has laid out several scenarios to find accommodation for those attending race events. These include using local homestay surrounding the racecourse and shuttling people back and forth between Lombok and Bali.

The option of positioning two cruise ships to Lombok for additional accommodation is also being considered.
