Garuda Indonesia is planning to commence flights between Bali and Moscow sometime before the fourth-quarter of 2014.
As reported by Merdeka.com, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa, in a meeting with the Russian deputy-minister Dmitry O. Rogozin in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, said, “Garuda has confirmed they will begin direct flight to Russia because the number of tourists to Bali is increasing every year.”
Bali is a popular destination with Russian tourists. 79,337 visitors from that Country took their holiday on the Island in 2013, an increase of 1.89% over Russian arrivals to Bali in 2012.
Nationwide, Russian visiting Indonesia in 2013 increased 25%.
Direct flights between Moscow and Bali are predicted to increase tourist flows from Russia to Bali substantially.
Garuda is awaiting delivery of new wide body aircraft to allow them to begin operating an expanded network of flights, including flights to Moscow.
