The Titi Banda Statue – a large monument depicting a scene from the Ramayana Epic to be built on a podium at the three-way intersection of Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai (Tohpati) and Jalan Bypass IB Manta will soon be let out to tender, according to NusaBali.

The head of the Hygiene and Public Parks Department of Denpasar, Ketut Wisada, confirmed on Thursday, March 13, 2104, that the next phase of actually building the statue awaits the completion of the tender process.

The Denpasar government is targeting for completion of the elaborate statue by the end of 2014.

The large stone foundation pedestal, completed in early 2014, was done at a cost of Rp.1.8 billion (US$157,000).

The budgeted cost of the monument is Rp. 5.4 billion (US$470,000) to be paid from the regional budget for 2014 (APBN).

The Titi Banda Statue
relates a scene from the Ramayana in which an epic mythical bridge is constructed. Rama will stand triumphantlt at the center of the monument surrounded by a troop of primate soldiers – all preparing to cross the bridge to the fortress of Alengka, home to King Ravana.

When completed, the Bali Titi Banda Monument will stand 15-meters high.
