A ceremony was held on April 22, 2014, at the Pan Am Monument in Padang Galak, Sanur, Bali, Indonesia to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the crash of a Boeing 707 in North Bali that claimed the lives of 107 people.
The master of ceremonies for the day was Mr. Anak Agung Gede Rai, the former CEO of the Bali Tourism Development Corporation. Mr. Rai also served in the same capacity 40 years ago at the inauguration of the monument by the Government of Bali.
Also attending the event were Scott Moser the grandson of Captain Donald Zinke, and Kathleen and Aileen Keating the daughters of Edward Keating, a Flight Engineer on Pan Am 812.
Performing at the ceremony were:
• Mr. Anton Mirzaputra a member of the well-known singing group Jamaica Café” and the subject of the documentary “Tanpa Batas” (No Limits) available on YouTube.
• The Narwastu Art Community Gamelan Group
• The Bali Community Choir directed by Brendon O’Donnell
• Ricky Pare singing the closing “Lilin Lilin Kecil” (Small Candles) at the closing with the Bali Community Choir
Sincere thanks to film maker Douchan Gersi who generously filmed the event and edited the video so surviving family members of those who died on Pan Am 812 can view the ceremony.
