PT Angkasa Pura I – the managers of Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport are in the process of shifting the parking area for motorcycles from the tiered parking area due to overcrowding at that facility.
Quoted by the State News Agency Antara, the co-general manager of PT Angkasa Pura I at Bali’s airport, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita, told the press on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 that the details of the shift in parking areas was still being sorted out.
Ardita revealed that the area allocated for motorcycle parking in the multi-level parking garage would soon shift to the gasoline depot located within the airport in front of the Airport’s Customs and Excise Office.
All motorcycles will be directed to park in the new area where a shuttle bus will be used to convey them to other areas of Bali’s airport.
“We are still calculating how many busses will be required for the shuttle service,” explained Ardita.
The shuttle bus service will bring motorcyclists from the parking area to the domestic and international terminals.
In deciding to move the parking area for motorcycle officials say the under-capacity of the tiered parking garage and the congested traffic conditions in the airport played keyed parts in the decision.
