If you are crazy “head over heels” about pizza then you “must” attend a visit by the World Champion of Pizza Acrobatics on a “flying” visit to Bali July 2-6, 2014.

From Sicily where men are men and pizza’s are supper-thin, Pasqualino Barbasso is flying to Bali to show how he became two-time world champion in Pizza Acrobatics in 2001 and 2002.

Part of the annual World Pizza Championships held in Italy, competitors pit their skills at preparing, spinning and tossing pizzas.

Think of it as flair bartending with wood-fired ovens.

If you thought competitors join the sport for the “dough” - you’d not be far wrong. Pizza makers  from around the globe compete for Gold medals and cash prizes. The winner is determined by who can keep his pizza dough spinning in the sky the highest for the longest period of time.

A recent contestant managed to keep a pie in the air for almost 3.5 minutes. Style also counts with some competitors able to spin pizza pies like basketballs on their fingertips while performing elaborate synchronized dance routines.

Bali visitors and residents wishing to witness and perhaps even try their hand at Pizza Acrobatics can catch any of three daily performances to be held at the AYANA Resort and Spa July 2-6, 2014.

The daily performances at 2:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. are complimentary, while Pasqualino has also created special pizzas priced from only Rp100,000 net for guests to savor every mouthful of this unique 5-day event.

The action will take place at the resort’s Sami Sami Restaurant, maximizing the spectacular sunset and ocean views from its location at the cliff-edge above the Rock Bar.

Outside guests are welcome and bookings are recommended.
