World-renowned Indonesian food expert and founder of the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival will host two legendary Long Table Dinners at 7:30 pm on Saturday, January 6 and 13, 2018 at the Indus Restaurant in Ubud.

Recently returned from a voyage of discovery to Banda Neira in Eastern Indonesia, Janet has many stories and recipes to share from the nutmeg island.

Off the beaten track, Banda Neira is marking 350 years since the signing of the Treaty of Banda between the English and the Dutch that saw the Island of Run in Banda exchanged for the Island of Manhattan. At the time, Run was the world’s only source of mace and nutmeg

The long-table dinner will feature exotic dishes from the Banda Islands combined with local Balinese favorites that focus on native plants, heritage ingredients, flowers and fruits – all presented on the starlit terrace at the Indus Restaurant.
What awaits the privileged few seated at Janet’s table is a relaxed, intimate gathering with a woman considered Australia's leading expert on Indonesian food, while making new friends sharing their love of Indonesian food.

The cost of the three-courses culinary adventure is Rp. 290,000 per person (plus tax and service) and includes lemon grass-scented fish soup, kenari nut gado-gado, Banda-style acar, almond hummus with eggplant, snapper in light turmeric broth, green amaranth, slow-cooked jackfruit, fresh torch ginger sambal and coconut desserts.

Those seated at the table are will receive a cookbook from Janet as a special New Year’s gift.
