A simple service to mark the third anniversary of the October 1, 2005 terrorist bombing were held in a memorial garden located in the Australian Consulate General compound on Wednesday, October 1, 2008.

As reported by Kompas, the ceremony was led by Bruce Cowled, the Consulate General of Australia in Bali and attended by around 40 guests including Bali's Governor Made Mangku Pastika, the Regent of Badung A.A. Gde Agung, the Consulate General of Japan Eiichi Suzuki, members of the families who perished in that attack, and Australian volunteers and medical staff who assisted the dead and injured in the bombings.

Cowled addressed those in attendance, saying that through their participation they honored the memory of all those killed and injured in the two separate bombing that occurred on a single day three years before. The short service commenced with the singing of Advance Australia Fair and Indonesia Raya - the national anthems of Australia and Indonesia, followed by the reading of the names of those who fell in what has come to be called Bali Bomb II.The program also included the laying of a floral wreath in the Memorial Garden by Cowled, Pastika and Sukuki.

Installed during the memorial ceremony was a plaque bearing the names of the four Australians who died on October 1, 2005: Brendan Fitzgerald, Jennifer Williamson, and Fiona Zwolinski and Colin Zwolinski.

Suicide bombers demolished Raja's Cafť in Kuta and Cafť Nyoman on Jimbaran Bay on October 1, 2005. Those attacks claimed 20 lives including 15 Indonesians, 4 Australians, and 1 Japanese.
