On January 7, 2011, the Bali International Medical Center Hospital Nusa Dua (BIMC Hospital) broke ground for a new hospital project to be located within the Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) complex at Nusa Dua.
The second medical facility for BIMC in Bali, the new modern medical facility at the southernmost tip of Bali is targeted for completion in late 2011.
BIMC Hospital has assigned Silver Thomas Hanley (STH), an Australian health architecture firm, to design the new hospital. STH will bring its reputation for cutting edge designs and expertise in the areas of acute health, special planning, feasibility studies and health care architecture designs to bear on the new project. Interior design for the Nusa Dua BIMC Hospital will be handled by Urban Fabric, an award-winning interior design company based in Durban, South Africa.
The hospital will be a two-storey facility with 45 inpatient beds and will occupy a 1.2 hectare plat within the BTDC Complex which is home to numerous 5-star hotels, a championship golf course, beaches and a modern shopping center.
BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua will include an accident and emergency area, intensive care unit, day procedure unit, operating theatres, ward rooms and specialty care offering a dialysis centre, cosmetic surgery and dental services.
Established in 1998, BIMC initially opened as a clinic in Bali, earning accreditation as a hospital in 2007 from its new facility near the Simpang Siur intersection at Kuta, Bali. BIMC Hospital maintains an international staff of Australian, American, English, Indonesian, New Zealand and Swedish medical professionals under the supervision of their Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Donna Moniaga.
