Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika is asking the management of Bali’s hotels in Nusa Dua to quickly undertake the complete registration of their employees in anticipation of the APEC Summit coming to Bali in early October 2013.

Underlining his request, Pastika said: “I hope that these hotels will quickly register their employees and, when necessary, undertake fingerprinting in order to ascertains the subject employees background. I seriously implore this be done with full seriousness in order to prepare for this important event.”
The Governor’s comments were made at a security coordination meeting for the APEC Summit held in Bali on Monday,  August 12, 2013.
The Governor, who once served as the Island’s Chief of Police, urged the steps outlined to ensure security at and around the Nusa Dua Complex; locking down the area "like a prison," if necessary. At the same time, Pastika called on the authorities to socialize the steps and the need for security to the surrounding communities to avoid any potential misunderstandings.
“Bali as the host of the APEC Summit is receiving a huge responsibility, bearing in mind that the name and reputation of  both Indonesia and Bali are on the line. Because of this, all activities must operate well and safely,” Pastika cautioned.
Meanwhile, the head of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), Colonel Budiarjo, confirmed that preparations are well in hand to secure the coming APEC Conference. His agency is cooperating with Bali police, the regional military command, and the agency for political and national unity in collecting data on the employees of Nusa Dua Hotels.
“We must continually renew our data, keeping the information valid in order that we can respond in any anticipated situation or development,” said Budiarjo.
Budiardjo said the coming Miss World Contest will serve as a test run for security measures in the period leading up to the APEC Conference.
The security coordination meeting held on August 12, 2013 included the participation of intelligence officers from the Bali police, intelligence officers from the local military command, the National Intelligence Agency, representatives of the Bali chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) and representatives from the hotels in Nusa Dua that will host APEC delegates.
