An advance team from the U.S. Air Force landed at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport on Thursday, September 26, 2013, to lay the ground work for a coming visit by U.S. President Barack Obama during the APEC Conference in the first week of October.
Landing in a Boeing C-17 Globemaster, the USAF air force team forms a part of an extensive array of logistical support encamped at every foreign port of call visited by the U.S. President.
The C-17 has a maximum payload of 77,500 kilograms. One of these aircrafts accompanies the President of the United States on all his visits, both domestic and international. On board the aircraft is the Presidential Limousine – otherwise known as “The Beast”, a security detachment and the vast quantity of equipment always put into place wherever the U.S. is away from the White House.
The President of the United States will be arriving in due course on a one of two highly customized Boeing 747s that adopts the codename “Air Force One” whenever the President in on board.
