Just five days after gang violence on Jalan Mahendradatta in West Denpasar between the "mass organizations" of Laskar Bali and Baladika sent one person to hospital with stab wounds, street thugs have launched yet another attack on a construction site in Denpasar.

DenPost reports that “tens of suspected mass organization” members carrying swords and sharp weapons attacked the TS Suite Hotel and Restaurant project on Jalan Nakula on Friday, October 18, 2013 at approximately 4:30 pm.

The security coordinator for the project, Welem Patubalo (30), suffered head and stab injuries in the attack.

Police are reportedly investigating the motive behind the incident, trying to determine if it started from a private dispute or a turf dispute between rival Bali gangs.

Police estimate 30 men carrying weapons attacked the Hotel TS construction site. The men damaged a fence surrounding the project. causing construction workers to run for safety as the thugs ransacked interior portions of the building.

Destroying the fence and gaining access to the site, the gang members entered the project’s basement and headed towards the security office. The men were said to be seeking Andrian Paso, the chief of security for the Hotel who hails from Kupang, who was not at the site at that time.

Angry at their inability to meet Andrian, the men attacked Welem, hitting him with planks of wood, double sticks and bamboo. During the assault Walem was also stabbed in the stomach. Seeing the man on the ground covered in blood, the gang members quickly ran from the site.

The remaining security guards and workers re-entered the site after the gang’s departure and quickly brought Walem to the nearby Bali Med Hospital on Jalan Mahendradatta.

Upon receiving the report police declared the construction site a crime scene and began interviewing the many witnesses to the attack.
