A Not So Modern Fleet of Public Transport

Maximum Age of Vehicles Used for Public Transport in Indonesia is 15 Years

The Director General of Land Transportation, Budi Setiyadi, said the Ministry of Transportation is limiting the maximum age of public transport in Indonesia to 15 years.

The maximum age will not, however, apply to private vehicles.

Quoted by Balipost.com, Setiyadi confirmed on Saturday, July 6, 2019, that the maximum permissible age for a motor vehicle applies only to those used for public transport.

This is a change from the current limit of 10 years and is being done at the request of the Association of Tourist Bus Operators.

Setiyadi said that no limit is in place at this time on private vehicles but did not discount the possibility of such a limit being introduced  sometime in the future, duplicating practice in neighboring countries in the region.
