Jade by Todd English – an up-market bar and dinner club in North Kuta- erupted into a violent free-for-all on Friday.22 May 2026 at 1:30 am, when two groups of foreign tourists launched into a brawl involving fisticuffs, broken glassware, and shattered beer bottles, and furniture hurled in fits of anger.
As a result of the incident, police shut down the venue and are using CCTV footage and handphone videos of the melee to investigate the event and track down the participants for possible prosecution.
During the bloody brawl, the club was overfilled with late-night revelers enjoying the food, drink, and loud music on offer at the nightspot located on Jalan Pemelisan Agung, Tibubeneng, North Kuta.
RadarBali reports that fistfights broke out inside and outside the nightclub, which was crowded with hundreds of foreign guests. The situation escalated after one group allegedly began throwing glassware. A mass brawl quickly ensued between the two groups. The participants resorted to fisticuffs, employing bottles and broken glass as weapons.
In videos circulating on social media, several foreign nationals were seen to have been injured by shards of broken bottles. Blood was reportedly seen splattered on the dance floor, and showed patrons as they panicked and fled the premises.
Meanwhile, several guests who tried to intervene to stop the fight became targets of the two groups’ fury and were attacked indiscriminately as the fight escalated.
The dance club’s security guards finally intervened to separate the two warring groups. Victims, who suffered serious injuries, were evacuated to local hospitals for medical treatment.
The Chief of the Badung Police Precinct, AKBP Joseph Edward Purba, ordered a thorough police investigation of the violent brawl in Bali’s well-known nightlife district.
A spokesperson for the Badung Police, Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, confirmed the bloody incident and that police had been immediately dispatched to the scene. Intensive police interrogations of witnesses were undertaken, and a detailed review of CCTV footage was performed in cooperation with immigration officials on Monday, 26 May 2026.
The results of preliminary investigations indicate that at least 14 foreign nationals, seated at two groups of seven at adjacent tables, became involved in a verbal argument that precipitated the brawl. Police say that someone threw a glass as both groups responded by standing up and initiating fistfights. The situation escalated further with broken bottles employed as weapons.
Police suggest that alcohol may have triggered the altercation.
OVERCAPACITY ISSUE
According to Jade by Todd English’s Management, 462 guests were recorded entering and leaving the nightclub on the evening of the incident. However, the approximately 20 x 30 meter room has only 41 tables, resulting in an ideal safe capacity of less than 100 people.
A post-fight inventory estimated that nearly 200 pieces of bar glassware were destroyed and shattered in the subject bar fight.
Police from the Badung Precinct’s Police Criminal Investigation Unit cordoned off the area with police tape. Accordingly, Jade by Todd English’s operations were temporarily suspended by the police.
Police confirmed they were tracing the identities of the participants in the brawl. Meanwhile, Jade by Todd English’s Public Relations Officer, Rara, confirmed that she was being questioned by police. “It is currently being handled by the authorities. Operations are temporarily closed, and the area is still cordoned off,” she stated..
