Tempo.co – the website of Indonesia’s leading news magazine – reports that TripAdvisor has announced the 2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards, announcing its annual pick of the world’s best travel destinations, hotels, restaurants, and activities/attractions.
The survey covers the 12 months from October 2022 through September 2023.
World’s Best Holiday Destinations
Bali ranked as the second-best destination globally, after Dubai, which was listed as “Number One.” TripAdvisor praised Dubai for being home to the tallest building – the ultra-modern Burj Khalifa, outstanding shopping malls, and fascinating souks. “It’s a place where if you can dream it, you can do it, whether that means skiing indoors, dune-surfing in the desert, or zip-lining above the city,” TripAdvisor said.
Bali was listed as second on the list of destinations. London is in third place, followed by Hanoi, Rome, Paris, Cancun, Marrakech, Crete, and Hoi An (Vietnam).
TripAdvisor praised Bali as a fantasy-like paradise where tourists enjoy fine white sand beaches. Ubud garnered praise for its dance performances, batiks vendors, yoga classes, and silver-smithing workshop.
World’s Best Beaches
While TripAdvisor declared Baja do Sancho, Brazil, home to the world’s best beach. Kelingking Beach on Bali’s nearby island of Nusa Penida ranked #16 among the top 25 beaches globally.
Asia’s Best Beaches
Nusa Penida’s Kelingking Beach also ranked #2 among Asia beaches, after India’s Radhanagan Beach at #1.
Best Trending Destinations
Tokyo was cited as the #1 “trending destination” worldwide. The West Java capital of Bandung won global recognition as #15 among “trending holiday destinations.”
Best Nature Destinations.
Bali’s near neighbor Lombok ranked #5 among the world’s best “nature destinations,” with Kathmandu sitting at pole position.
Honeymoon Destinations
Bali cemented its top ranking as the “world’s favorite honeymoon destination” in the latest TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award,
