Bali Hotels Providing Quarantine Services

In anticipation of Bali reopening its border to international travelers in October 2021, BaliPost.com reports the government is preparing standardized health protocols, including a list of hotels to provide quarantine facilities to arriving international travelers.

The pro-tem head of the Badung Regency Tourism Service, Cokorda Raka Darmawan, announced during a working meeting at the Badung House of Representatives (DPRD-Badung) on Monday, 27 September 2021, that five hotels in Nusa Dua and South Kuta are prepared to provide quarantine services. Darmawan underlined to Balipost.com that the quarantine facility was not organized by Badung Regency but by the Central Government in cooperation with the Province of Bali.

Darmawan named the five quarantine hotels for foreign tourists:

  • Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua
  • St Regis in Nusa Dua
  • Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort in Nusa Dua
  • Novotel (Darmawan did not specify which Novotel – Benoa, Nusa Dua, or Airport)
  • Mercure (Again, Darmawan did not clarify which Mercure – Legian, Nusa Dua, or Kuta)

Darmawan said passengers arriving on an international flight would be required to quarantine for eight days, after which, if testing negative for COVID-19, they would be allowed to leave the quarantine hotel.

Arriving passengers testing positive for COVID-19 would be provided medical care at one of three hospitals: Bali Mandara, Udayana University Medical Center, or The Sanglah General Hospital.

The Badung Regency Tourism Chief said recommendations had been made to the Central Government that the quarantine period be reduced to only two days after testing negative for COVID-19 both before departing to Indonesia and after arriving in Bali. “After testing ‘negative,’ travelers should be allowed to choose another non-quarantine hotel and begin their holiday. If, however, the test is ‘positive,’ then the traveler would be admitted to a government-approved hospital,” Darmawan said.

The government has appointed three hotels to provide quarantine services to domestic travelers testing positive for COVID-19 but not exhibiting any symptoms of the virus:

  • Hotel Bakung Sari
  • Wisma Bima
  • Hotel Ibis Badung
