Joey Alexander, the Bali-born. Multiple Grammy Award Nominee returns to the performance stage of the Padma Musical Series in Bali on Saturday, 11 July 2026, accompanied by his full jazz ensemble.
One of Bali’s most anticipated musical events of the year, The Padma Musical Series announces that one of the most internationally acclaimed jazz pianists and composers, Joey Alexander, will travel home to Bali with a full band of supporting musicians from the United States. This special performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience his music in its most authentic and fully realized form. This landmark Bali appearance not only celebrates Joey Alexander’s extraordinary artistic journey but also the Padma Musical Series’ continuing commitment to presenting world-class musicians to Bali audiences in an intimate and inspiring setting.

JOEY ALEXANDER – INDONESIA
Originally from Bali, Joey Alexander emerged as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary jazz at an astonishingly young age, drawing praise from jazz legend Herbie Hancock as he rapidly established an international presence. His subsequent move to the United States marked the beginning of a remarkable ascent, defined by artistic maturity well beyond his years and a distinctive musical identity.

In the intervening years. Joey has continued to refine his voice through a series of critically acclaimed recordings, including Origin and Continuance , works that underscore his evolution as both a composer and bandleader. Still in his early twenties, he has already received multiple Grammy nominations, performed on the Grammy stage to an international television audience, and been featured on platforms such as NPR’s Tiny Desk and CBS’s 60 Minutes, cementing his place among the leading musical figures of his generation.
This July 2026 performance in Bali will introduce a new dimension to Joey Alexander’s live work, as Joey appears in Indonesia with his own band of US musicians, an elite ensemble drawn from the New York jazz scene with whom he continues to shape his current sound. Their presence brings a deeper sense of cohesion and interplay, offering audiences a rare insight into the musical language Alexander has developed abroad.
Following a history of sold-out appearances at three Padma Musical Series, this return promises not only a homecoming of sorts but also a more expansive and fully realized artistic statement, one that reflects Joey’s journey from prodigious talent to a mature, globally recognized artist.
DANIEL WINSHALL – USA

A New York–based jazz bassist known for his expressive playing on both upright and electric bass. Originally from Boston, Daniel began performing professionally at a young age and quickly established himself on the jazz scene, going on to study at The New School for Contemporary Jazz. A versatile and in-demand musician, he has shared the stage with artists such as Wynton Marsalis and Keyon Harrold. He performs regularly at leading New York venues, including Smalls Jazz Club and Arthur’s Tavern. Blending strong groove, musical sensitivity, and stylistic range, Winshall continues to build a reputation as a compelling voice in contemporary jazz.
KUBA SKOWROŃSKI – Poland

A Polish-born saxophonist whose work bridges European jazz training with the vibrant energy of Indonesia’s live music scene. Since his first appearance in Indonesia at the Ubud Village Jazz Festival, he has continued to build his local presence through collaborations and performances. Known for a thoughtful and expressive approach to the saxophone, his playing balances technical precision with a sense of musical openness, reflecting a cross-cultural perspective shaped by his international journey.
TYSON D. JACKSON – USA
A drummer, composer, and educator from West Palm Beach, Florida, whose passion for music began at age 3, was first discovered at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
A Berklee College of Music graduate (BM 2019, MM 2020), he has developed his craft through mentorship with leading artists, including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Terence Blanchard, Terri Lyne Carrington, Tia Fuller, and now, Joey Alexander.

Deeply rooted in both jazz and gospel traditions, Jackson approaches music as a vessel for connection and expression, combining respect for the masters with a forward-thinking artistic voice to inspire and impact listeners.
Together, these three exceptional musicians, performing alongside the Jazz phenom Joey Alexander, will present an evening that transcends traditional jazz concerts, offering a deeply immersive musical experience shaped by artistry, collaboration, and cultural dialogue. Joey Alexander’s return to Bali marks a meaningful homecoming, reflecting his evolution from a prodigious young talent into a mature and globally celebrated artist. Joined by this trusted ensemble, the performance promises a dynamic interplay of improvisation and storytelling, inviting audiences to witness the rich musical language he has developed on the international stage.
