JokoWi Sees an Injected End to COVID Crisis

As reported by Tempo.co, Indonesian President Joko Widodo is projecting an end to the COVID-19 Pandemic crisis when a suitable vaccine can be distributed to the public.

Predicting the road ahead, the Indonesian President said on Wednesday, 30 September 2020: “If the vaccine starts to be injected [to the public], the situation will return to normal again. There will be around 170-180 million people [who will get the vaccine first], and that will take several months. So, this requires hard work from all of us.”

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartanto revealed on Monday, 28 September 2020, a list of six prioritized groups who will be among the first to receive any vaccination. This list includes millions of front-line personnel working to limit the coronavirus’s spread who have worked into close contact with infected individuals. Also, at the front of the vaccination queue are educators, civil servants, and legislators.

The President’s Office has said the list of those targeted for prioritized vaccination is subject to revision as the Pandemic situation evolves further.
