Fire at Hotel Club Med Bali Causes Rp. 5 Bn. in Damages

The Agung Restaurant, located within the luxurious Hotel Club Med at the Nusa Dua Complex in South Bali, suffered a devastating fire on Friday, 24 April 2026, causing an estimated Rp. 5 billion in damage.

The fire was reported at 7:40 am during breakfast service at the all-inclusive resort, which authorities believe started at 6:50 am.

As reported by Kompas.com, when hotel security staff arrived at the location, the fire was already fully engaged, burning in the dining and kitchen area. Urgently contacted by the Hotel’s reception, eight fire trucks from Badung Regency and the Nusa Dua Complex rushed to the scene.

The Restaurant Supervisor said the fire originated in a kitchen deep fryer when the cooking oil overheated. Initial attempts to control the fire with portable fire extinguishers were unsuccessful. The blaze quickly spread to the building’s ceiling, constructed of wood and thatching.

No guests or hotel staff were injured in the fire, which destroyed 5,000 square meters of the two-story structure, including the Agung Restaurant situated on the second floor. On the first floor of the building, a boutique, a Photoshop, a meeting room, and an accounting office were destroyed.

Preliminary calculations estimate damages exceeding Rp. 5 billion.

The head of the South Kuta Police Precinct, AKP Muhammad Bhayangkara Putra Sejati SIK, confirmed that police investigations into the actual cause of the fire are ongoing.  Adding: “We can now confirm that the location of the fire is now safe and no longer poses a safety threat.”
