Russian Couple 10 Months in Bali Prison for Pandering

The operators of an online prostitution business, Anastasiia Koveziuk, 26, and Maxsim Tokarev, 32, were both sentenced to ten months imprisonment by a Court in Bali on Thursday, 22 May 2025.

As reported by NusaBali.com, the two Russians were found guilty of providing international online pornographic products and services. A panel of judges, led by Justice Heriyati, ruled the two Russians violated the 2008 National Law on Pornography in keeping with the case presented by Badung Regency State Prosecutor Made Hendra Pranata Dharmaputra.

Both Koveziuk and Tokarev will be credited with time served while awaiting trial.

The verdict handed down by the Court was less than the one-year sentence sought by the State. In granting a measure of leniency, the panel of judges stated that while the Russians’ actions disturbed the public, they were well-behaved, courteous, and cooperative in Court and had no previous criminal conviction records.

The two Russians were apprehended following a raid by Bali Police on a hotel in North Kuta that was the base for serving their clients. At the time of the raid, police caught a Russian client engaged in sex with a Ukrainian.

This prostitution business was run in an organized manner and, through the use of the Internet, on an international scale. Anastasiia acted as the main controller, recruiting foreign women as commercial sex workers (CSWs), providing accommodation, overseeing operations, and managing payments to the sex workers.  “She also managed a Telegram account ‘@Lana Sunshine’ and the group’ Time Liza Bali’ to manage the CSWs,” said the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, Maxsim Tokarev acted as a manager who communicated with customers via WhatsApp, arranged meeting schedules and locations, and ultimately ensured that payment had been received before the women were sent on their illicit appointment.
