COVID Tests Price at 8 Airports Slashed

Indonesian tourists from Bali seeking to travel by air will now enjoy a much lower price for Rapid Tests administered at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport.

The Airport’s Management – PT Angkasa Pura I, has reduced the cost from Rp. 150,000 to Rp. 85,000 for Rapid Testing for COVID-19 at eight airports under their control. In addition to Bali’s Airport, the lower Rapid Test cost is also available at The Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar; Juanda Airport, Surabaya; Syamsudin Noor Airport, Banjarmasin;  Jogjakarta International Airport;  Jenderal Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang; Adi Soemarmo Airport, Solo, and the Sentani Airport, Jayapura.

PT Angkasa Pura I spokesperson says the lower test price has been introduced to facilitate travel by the Indonesian public.

Under the National Task Force’s guidelines for the Mitigation of COVID-19 (Number 9/2020) and endorsed by the Ministry of Transportation, a Rapid Test is required for anyone traveling by air from an Indonesian airport.

Quoted by RadarBali, The CEO of PT Angkasa Pura I, Faik Fahmi, said: “The reduction in the cost of a Rapid Test is intended to reduce the cost of air travel and facilitate passengers during adaption to the new normal.”

A subsidiary of PT Angkasa Pura I, Angkasa Pura Supports, operates clinics at the Bali Airport, providing Rapid Tests, but now at a reduced price.

All officials administering the Rapid Tests must have their body temperatures checked before beginning work and must use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) that includes face shields, masks, gloves, and protective clothing. The areas where tests are administered, together with other public spaces at the airports, undergo regular disinfection.

Those seeking a Rapid Test at an Airport are also obliged to wash their hands and check their body temperatures before entering the test area. In addition, face masks must be worn and physical distancing protocol honored by those undergoing testing. Before entering the test facility, passengers must first fill out a form and present a valid Identity Card.

Once a small blood sample is taken, passengers will need to wait a short while until their test results are available.
