318 foreign nationals were refused entry by immigration officials at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport during Q1 (January-March 2024).
According to the head of immigration at Bali’s Airport, Suhendra, through 09 April 2024, the largest group of 132 travelers refused entry to Indonesia due to their failure to hold the required visa.
The 318 foreigners denied entry during the first three months of 2024 was an increase over the 217 denied during the same period of 2023. There were 32 people from the 318 refused entry for presenting passports with less than the required 6-month remaining validity.
Sixteen of those denied entry were listed on Indonesia’s blacklist, with a further 11 people rejected due to suspicion of pedophilia and another person for an unspecified reason.
During Q1 2024, 103 Indonesians and foreigners encountered delayed departures on international trips. 84 Indonesians were determined to be departing the country to work abroad without following the required formal procedures. Four foreign nationals were detained for overstaying their visas, with 15 others for other reasons.
During Q1 2024, Bali’s immigration office deported 37 foreigners and temporarily detained 27 foreign nationals at the Immigration detention center.
As reported by Beritabali.com, among those deported from Bali were dominated by Australians, Iran, USA, Russia, Ukraine, and British nationals, primarily for overstaying their visa.
During Q1 2024, 1.3 million foreigners entered Bali, representing a 32% increase over the same three months in 2023, when 884,000 foreign tourists entered Bali.
The top 10 source countries for visitors to Bali, listed in descending order, are Australia, PRC, India, South Korea, UK, USA, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, and Japan.
During the first three months of 2024, non-tax revenues generated by Bali’s immigration office totaled Rp. 483.5 billion.
